FAQ’s

It is never to early to book and reserve your newborn session with Treasured Memories. Many of our clients will book a couple of months in advance to ensure their session is reserved on our calendar. We will book your session date based on your current due date 10 – 14 days.  This date of course will be adjusted should baby arrive much earlier or later then expected.  We are however sometimes able to take after birth sessions based on our schedule availability.

Honestly… at Treasured Memories Photography we can photography little ones of any age. The newborn stage is technically up to 3 months… however the best time to photography is usually in the first couple of weeks after birth when they are still in that sleepy baby mode.

My newborn sessions last between 1-3 hours depending on the Collection you choose. This will allow us to take multiple breaks for you to feed and soothe your infant. For the husbands and younger children, I have a loung area with a big screen TV for your comfort. Netflix and Youtube is readily available for older siblings to keep busy while they wait.

Please read through the forms in your welcome packet, including how to prepare for your session. There is quite a bit of reading involved, but following a few simple guidelines results in a smooth and calm session. 

Most of my work is done using wraps, covers and nude. However we do have many newborn outfits, hats/bonnets and headbands that your little one can use during their session. There is really no need to bring anything for the baby to wear unless of course there is a special outfit (heirloom) that you would like to have your little one photographed with. If you are planning on family or sibling photos with your newborn, I suggest you wear something comfortable. Jeans with a black or neutral tone (Brown, beige, cream, etc.) shirt/t-shirt/blouse work best. Of course keep it simple with little to no patterns/logos.

Expect to have a rest! Honestly… I want you to feel at home, comfortable and relaxed during the session. Once you arrive with baby, I will show you the colours and sets I have chosen based on our previous discussions. I will have bottled water on site, and encourage you to bring snacks, a book or just have a snooze! If you want to watch the entire session unfold, feel free!

Absolutely! I love to capture the sweet bond between parents and their newborn baby, and there is the option to include parents and/or siblings for each of the standard sessions (maternity, newborn) at no additional cost. There are also petite sessions available that are shorter and for baby-only, so this is something we discuss during the initial consultation and confirm specifics in the session planning questionnaire. Parent images are typically done near the end of the session, unless there are siblings, in which case they would be ideally captured at the beginning so that they can leave early with the second parent. As we know, technically newborns run the show so we play it by ear (every session is different).

The Treasured Memories Photography studio is fully stocked with a large selection of different background options & props such as buckets, crates, bowls, beds etc. & baby accessories like dainty headbands, perfectly fitting diaper covers & rompers, and a large selection of hats and bonnets. The goal is to make sure your newborn baby is the star of the image, and all of the props and accessories compliment the setup and highlight your baby and any colour or theme to your home and nursery.

Most standard newborn sessions will receive your choice of 3 – 4 prop sets, simple baby on blanket/fur as well as your family set. Sibling shots will be worked into any of your prop sets that is suitable. Suggested sibling sets will be made based on ages of older siblings.

You are also more than welcome to bring in family heirlooms to be incorporated, but this should be mentioned in your pre-session consultation so I can incorporate it into the planned setups.

Your image reveal and ordering appointment takes place approximately 7 – 10 days after your session has been photographed and your images are ready for viewing. You and your partner are invited back into the studio for your image reveal, and you will be guided through your image selection and product design. These sessions are designed for you to make your order.

Your preview gallery is a soft proof gallery. Final retouches and edits will be made to the images you select at your preview session and will be provided as a digital download approximately 7 – 10 business days after final payment is made. Product deliveries are typically made between 2 and 4 weeks after your final images are approved. 

Our custom newborn session start at $599 with our average client spending between $900 – $1200 on their session and products. On occasion we do offer Newborn Mini Session Promotion for baby only (please inquire). I believe photography is an investment that should be something that you and your family can enjoy for years to come, while still being affordable and stress free. Hence, we are proud to offer you customized installment payment plans for every budget.  I would be happy to discuss  our plans with you during our meeting allowing you to make your payments over a 6 month period.  Please note full payment must be made before you are able to receive your digital files/Products. We accept cash at the studio or we will invoice you for credit card or bank transfers payments.
