COVID-19 – STUDIO UPDATE

The last 5 days in the news has been unbelievable… like something out of a movie!  And during this whole process I have remained calm, patience and strong for those around me that are having difficulties during this time.
For any of those that have worked with me know I am very calm and patience person by nature!!!..  Of course I wanted to reach out right away to my clients and friends sooner.  But not wanting to add to all the craziness and truly not having any additional information to share with them as to what all of this means for my business and the studio until this morning….

As I work closely with vulnerable clients including newborns, small children and pregnant women, it is my duty to ensure all clients are protected during their photo session with me.

The Studio

As of March 17th after the Provincial Government has declared a State of Emergency.  As a responsible business owner and community partner Treasured Memories Photography studio will be CLOSED for client sessions until April 5th in efforts to do our part in flattening the curve.  I will be closely monitoring new information as it is released and of course will update all of you with further developments!!!!

Event Sessions

This will of course effect our Spring/Easter sessions (March 28th and 29th) and date announcement of our Mama and Me sessions.  We will be sending out a email to those that have already reserved their sessions with further information on postponing these sessions. Our goal of course is to still host our event once further information is released on small scale social gatherings.

Studio Environment Safety

At Treasured Memories Photography safety is my main priority at all times, including flu season and during this epidemic. I have introduced some extra safety measures, in addition to my current measures.  I would like to share the current steps I am taking to ensure the studio environment remains safe and clean for your photo session once the studio re-opens.

Some of these precautions include:

  • Deep cleaning of the studio after every session and prior to new clients arriving
  • Newborn and baby bookings will be limited to only ONE per day
  • Clients will be asked to wash your hands upon arrival at my studio and/or use hand sanitizer that is provided
  • Minimizing prop use by not reusing props until they have been deep cleaned/sanitized and left isolated for 48 hours after use.
  • Asking clients to reschedule if they feel unwell, even if it is mild
  • Asking clients to leave immediately if they present with a consistent cough, fever or any other symptoms and carrying out a deep clean of the studio environment
  • If I feel unwell, even mildy, I will contact you immediately to rearrange our session.
We will now be including additional screening and health prep guide as part of our session contract agreements.  All clients must adhere to this prep guide prior to and during their session with me, which I’m sure you will understand.

My Family

As of today, my family is happy and healthy,…. we have not traveled out-of-province this year and we have no expected international travel plans for 2020.   We are trying to keep everything is normal as possible at home while still putting into place social distancing and home deep cleaning as well (FUN with having 2 teenagers!!!)…
With a busy March Break plan of visiting public spaces (movies, museums, GO KARTING!!!) I am left to come up with some FUN non social activities….  I am sure Sierra and I will be CRAFTING a lot over the next week or so… as we raid my craft supplies at the studio….. And will be having Sebastian helping me out with creating new video projects for the studio….

Your Family

How about you?  What is your family doing to keep busy during this time… I’d love to hear from you and that you are doing well and ok….

All the best….

Gwen

2018 A year in review

2018 A year in review…

What a beautiful year it’s been!! Time certainly does fly when you’re having fun 🙂 I can honestly say that this year has taught me so much–as a photographer, business owner, mother, and officially a wife now! So many personal and professional milestones that my amazing clients have been apart of every step of the way over the last year and last 7 years!

206 AWESOME CLIENTS PHOTOGRAPHED IN 2018

~ TOP 2018 MEMORIES ~

Of course my TOP MEMORY for 2018 was that I married my best friend…after 14 long years together we finally made it official this summer…. and was so happy to have many of my clients that have become friends/family attend.

CLIENT APPRECIATION

This year I celebrated my 40th birthday and wanted to celebrate with a fun and silly Client Appreciation Event in February. Cupcakes and Confetti! With over 25 of my little clients (and some parents too) we had so much fun and laughs…

MENTORING

In January we welcomed our Co-op Student Caroline to the Studio. Mentoring has always been something I love doing and having her working with me daily was a wonderful experience. Over the 5 months that she was at the studio Caroline became a great addition to the team.

FUNDRAISING

In March we hosted our Easter Sessions inviting our furry farm friends raising $400 for Black Goat Farm and Sanctuary.  All well educating our little clients about farm animals and their care.

LEARNING

In September I had the amazing opportunity to work and attend TUCC Conference. Working with and learning from some of Portrait Photography industry leaders. Including Lisa from The Milky Way, Alli from Glow Portraits and Heidi Hope Photography among many other amazing teachers. Another dream come true!

WHATS NEXT?

In November this year I was offered the position on staff with APNPI – Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International as the Accreditation and Competition Program Coordinator helping to elevate newborn photography industry safety and standards. I am very excited about this new work and business opportunity and look forward to working on achieving professional accreditation myself in newborn and maternity.

From the bottom of my heart I want to thank each and every one of my clients for making this year truly special. After 7 wonderful years, it’s only because of you I get to make a living supporting my family, doing what I love most and for that I am forever grateful. – Gwen
